On Sunday 19th April, competitors taking part in the Marske Reservoir Spring Championship were met with the lock that is pictured above.
The Combination Lock on the first gate had been removed and replaced with a Key Padlock stopping Anglers from entering the lane down to the Reservoir. Our Fishery Officers had to be called out at 7:15am, the lock was removed with an Angle Grinder and the Match was able to be fished. Information received by the Committee leads us to believe the Lock was placed on the gate by a disgruntled Club Member.
This was discussed at the Committee Meeting on Monday 27th April and it was decided that if Club Members are met with anything like this again Marske Reservoir will be LOCKED AND CLOSED to ALL Club Members until the person or persons who think it’s a good idea to stop other Club Members from Fishing come forward!!
This is a very hard stance the Committee have decided to take and this decision has not been made lightly but this sort of petty, spiteful behaviour will not be tolerated!!
