M.A.C. – January/February Roundup 2026

Club News, Notices, Points of Interest & Information for Members from the Clubs monthly Committee Meeting held on Monday 26th January

  • Members are reminded that Membership Renewals are now available. Memberships MUST be renewed by the 31st of March or before you go fishing on any Club venue (whichever is the sooner). Every prospective Club member currently on the waiting list has been offered a membership, applications received from now will be advised at the end of March.
  • If you are a member of the Marske Reservoir Night Syndicate you have until SATURDAY 31st JANUARY to renew or risk losing your place on the syndicate.
  • In line with agreed stocking policies and further to recent addition of silvers to Hutton Rudby, Fish have been ordered for Marske res & Hutton Rugby Ponds – we are currently waiting for final details and delivery dates. Carp from 1-3lb together with IDE for Hutton Rudby & Carp from 5-7lb for Marske Reservoir.
  • The anti-predation work carried out at Hutton Rudby at the end of last year appears to have been a great success with very few Cormorants being seen on site. There is still some work to do on the front pond when the weather improves. The Club received a grant of £1600 from the Angling Trust towards the cost of the works
  • Unfortunately the Predation work did not appear to deter the local lads from Ice Skating on the ponds during the recent freeze. Parents were contacted and luckily no children were injured while these shenanigans took place.
  • There is some great work going on up at Marske Reservoir overseen by the new Fisheries Officers, which will continue as we move forward through the year. There are a number of tasks around the Reservoir that we have to do and then the additional work that Darren & Dave have got planned.
  • Please remember the Reservoir will be closed on SUNDAY 8th FEBRUARY as the road leading to the car park is being levelled. There will be no access to the Reservoir and also no exit until the work is completed.
  • Another reminder to Members that Rods should not be left unattended on any of our venues. Marske Reservoir in particular, is not a 10 acre, 6 peg, snag free syndicate lake – so please respect the water & other members & reel your lines in even if you are just popping to your car.
  • A sub-committee has been set up to look into & discuss the current Night Syndicate and whether it needs to be changed ie increased numbers, more expensive, booking on system. Is it currently being used? is it worth it? The sub-committee will look at all options and report back in due course
  • A further sub-committee has taken on the task of looking into the possibility of a toilet at Marske Reservoir. Again all options – Yes or No – is it the Clubs responsibility? is it the anglers responsibility? is it cost effective. The sub-committee will investigate and report back… but at present they have nothing to go on!
  • 2026 MAC Stillwater & running water match dates have been proposed and confirmed and will be published on the club website and Facebook in due course.
  • Only members of the club should be present on our venues. Any non-members are not covered by our insurance policy.
  • Membership checks will continue on all our venues, by our Fisheries Officers, Committee Members and Bailiffs. Please remember, all members can ask to see another members membership card
  • Environment Agency & Rural Police Officers have been given permission to attend our venues at anytime and continue to visit Marske Reservoir and Hutton Rudby Ponds on their rounds to check rod licences.
  • If you are asked to show your membership card or Rod Licence or maybe just asked to reel in to do a rig check please don’t be offended – it is merely to ensure fish welfare and continued enjoyment of our venues for all members.
  • Please ensure all landing nets (keep nets for matches), weigh slings and unhooking mats etc are dry and left out in the open air before fishing to avoid the spread of disease. UV light kills off any unwanted bacteria.
  • Please ensure the gates are locked at all times – when opening the first gate at Marske reservoir please don’t use the lock to keep the gate open – this causes damage to the lock.
  • Please take all of your rubbish/litter/cans home with you and dispose of them responsibly. Leaving rubbish for somebody else to pick up will not be tolerated, if caught memberships will be revoked. LEAVE LITTER – LEAVE THE CLUB.

Wishing all our members all the best and tight lines for the new year
