- MEMBERSHIPS 2025 – Membership renewal is now Closed – Now the dust has settled and we now know that approximately 600 members have renewed. We are able to offer memberships to everyone on our waiting list. All those prospective members will receive an email within the next 10-14 days with joining instructions.
- RON THOMPSON 2 DAY MEMORIAL FESTIVAL 2025 – This years 2 day competition to celebrate the memory and service to Middlesbrough Angling Club of the late, great Ron Thompson will take place this weekend on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th May at Hutton Rudby Ponds and Marske Reservoir – members are reminded that both Venues are closed to non-competitiors from sunset on Friday 09th May thru to sunrise on Monday 12th May.
- RIVER SWALE – GATENBY – We are currently in negotiations with the new owner of the farm which includes this stretch of river. Therefore at this time we are removing this stretch from our club book. We hope this is only temporary and that new permission will be in place by the time the season opens.
- Jeff has been out and about working hard on the River banks throughout the closed season, usually on his own, to ensure our River Stretches are accessible and ready for the start of the rivers season on June 16th.
- Jeff and therefore the Club are in need of some help maintaining the pegs and accessibility of our Rivers in the run up to the start of the season – Anybody who is available to help please contact Jeff on 01642 825604. Jeff can usually be found out on the River banks on Tues & Thurs if anybody can lend a hand – Every little helps.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR MAJOR WORKS – The work on the pegs at the Reservoir are now well under way, with 9 pegs nearing completion. Please bear with us, and the workmen whilst the remaining work continues. The work is well overdue and will, when complete, make the fishery a lot safer & more accessible to all.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR NETTING – Plans are underway to carry out a survey netting on Marske Reservoir at some point over the summer – This will then give us a much better idea for restocking policies if & when required – Notice will be given as obviously the venue will be closed whilst the netting is taking place.
- The Committee has received several complaints that a minority of members are smoking illicit substances whilst fishing on Club waters – We would like to remind members that this is breaking Club rules – and also the Law. We have members as young as 6 years of age and as such drug use will not be tolerated.
- The issue with the Kissing Gate at Hutton Rudby is still ongoing. Fish Legal have now exhausted all legal avenues which have unfortunately been unsuccessful. We are now investigating other possibilities to reinstate the former access.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR CHAMPS 2025 – Spring Champs Results : Only 8 ounces seperated 1st and 2nd place with youngster Alex Metcalfe taking the first M.A.C. title of the year – edging past last years Autumn Champ Martin White with David Atkins in third place – Next up in the reservoir seasonal series is the Summer Champs on Sunday 20th July

- The Committee have received anecdotal reports that fish are being transferred from Scaling Dam / Hutton Rudby into Lockwood Beck in particular Pike & Carp – Northumbrian Water / Waterside Parks have been made aware and anybody caught moving fish will be liable to prosecution.
- The Committee has also received word that anglers have been fishing at Scaling Dam & Lockwood Beck for free by claiming they are members of MAC – Again we have passed this information on to Northumbrian Water / Waterside Parks.
- Members should be aware that it is against the law to move fish from one water to another without the correct permits and authorisation. Members are reminded that they should carry their membership cards at all times and leave club book on the car dashboard whilst fishing Lockwood Beck, Scaling Dam & River stretches.
- Membership checks will continue on all our venues, not only by our Fisheries Officers, Committee Members and Bailiffs but also by the Environment Agency who have visited both Marske Reservoir & Hutton Rudby in the last few months to check our members hold EA Rod licences. If you are asked to show your Membership card or Rod Licence or maybe just asked to reel in to do a rig check please don’t be offended it is merely to ensure fish welfare and continued enjoyment of our venues for members.
- Please keep an eye on the Noticeboards at both Hutton Rudby and Marske Reservoir for up to date notices.
- Please ensure the gates are locked at all times and all litter is taken home.
- If you have any concerns or issues with anything listed above or any other Club related matter please contact us on [email protected] or [email protected]
