M.A.C -August/September Roundup – Club news, Notices, Points of interest, Information for Members from the Club Committee Meeting held on Monday 1/9/2025.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR SEASONAL CHAMPS – DATE CHANGE – The Autumn Champs will now take place this SUNDAY 14th SEPTEMBER – Places are limited – book on with Dale at Anglers Choice (01642) 899 288 – Full details – https://bit.ly/3G3OZv9
- MARSKE RESERVOIR FISH WELFARE – Unfortunately we need to remind some members to take care of the fish. Fish care is paramount to the club, a landing net should be used for all fish over 6-8ozs, including Bream. If any fish sustain injury or die because they are dragged across concrete, or hooks are shaken from the mouths whilst in the edge, the member responsible will face being banned from the club.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR NIGHT SYNDICATE WAITING LIST – The list is open and currently has 4 names down:
- 1 – Dean Forster
- 2 – Jack Claypole
- 3 – Jack Meadows
- 4 – Rob Atkinson
- Members who fulfil the night syndicate criteria & wish to put their Names down should send an Email to the club Membership Secretary, Dale Conway – [email protected] – This approach gives the club a robust, time-stamped method of recording applications allowing full transparency around the waiting list which may have been lacking in the past.
- HUTTON RUDBY – The hot weather has eased but the water levels at Hutton Rudby are now down another 5 inches, in total that’s 24 inches down, if anybody knows a rain dance please pass it on to Martin!
- HUTTON RUDBY MONDAY MATCHES – Matches continue every Monday afternoon alternating between the ponds at Hutton Rudby – New faces are welcome – Full details – https://bit.ly/41WmQ1V – Thanks to Budgie for looking after the matches and posting the results on the Facebook group.
- HUTTON RUDBY OCTOBER MATCHES – Three matches are being organised on the back pond at Hutton Rudby. These are to be held on Sundays in October on the following dates: 12/10, 19/10 & 26/10, these will be used to move some of the larger carp into the front pond in line with the ongoing stocking policy.
- THE PHANTOM SH*TTER – As previously stated, it is not acceptable on any level to defecate at any of our venues and leave it for somebody else to clean up after you. If you get caught short please use a bag or bucket and dispose of it yourself at home – We know the vast majority of our members abide by the rules and enjoy the fishing, so we are only talking to a few when we say if you are caught breaking club rules then you risk being suspended or banned from the Club.
- CCTV solutions are being explored for Hutton Rugby Ponds as well as the cameras for Marske Reservoir.
- RIVERS – Members are reminded that the two stretches of the River Swale at Ainderby & Gatenby are NOT currently available for MAC Members to Fish. Check out the maps page on the clubs website for help locating our stretches of river – https://middlesbroughanglingclub.co.uk/maps/
- MIDDLE TEES RIVER MATCHES – The next match is on Thursday 11th Sept – Book on with Dale at Anglers Choice (01642) 899288 – Meet 8.30AM at Dinsdale Toll Bridge – Fishing 10.30AM – 3.30PM – Various stretches of the clubs water on the middle Tees may be used based on numbers taking part and any closures will be advertised in advance on the club Facebook page.
- THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY MIDDLE TEES CHAMPS took place in August with the Clubs very own Mr Ian Kirton taking the honours. This adds the title of “The Tees Typhoon” to “The Earl of Lockwood. Well done Ian!
- NORTHERN RIVER MASTERS QUALIFIER – The clubs water on The Middle Tees at Low Dinsdale will host a (sold out) Northern River Masters qualifier on Saturday 04th October – This section of river is closed to members on that date.
- REMINDERS TO MEMBERS:
- MARSKE RESERVOIR MAJOR WORKS CONTINUE – The pegs in the 30’s are still to be refurbished, we will be looking at these in the coming weeks as well as other remedial work – the venue will remain open while work is completed – members are asked to stay clear of areas where work is taking place and to keep paths clear when the workmen are on site.
- Only members of the club should be present on our venues. Any non-members are not covered by our insurance policy.
- Membership checks will continue on all our venues, not only by our Fisheries Officers, Committee Members and Bailiffs.
- Environment Agency & Rural Police have been given permission to attend our venues at anytime and have already visited Marske Reservoir on several occasions.
- If you are asked to show your Membership card or Rod Licence or maybe just asked to reel in to do a rig check please don’t be offended it is merely to ensure fish welfare and continued enjoyment of our venues for members.
- Please ensure all landing nets (keep nets for matches), weigh slings and unhooking mats etc are dry and left out in the open air before fishing to avoid the spread of disease.
- Please ensure the gates are locked at all times – when opening the first gate at Marske reservoir please don’t use the lock to keep the gate open – this causes damage to the lock.
- Please take all of your Rubbish/Litter/Cans home with you and dispose of them responsibly. Leaving Rubbish for somebody else to pick up will not be tolerated, if caught memberships will be revoked. LEAVE LITTER – LEAVE THE CLUB.
- If you have any concerns or issues with anything listed above or any other Club related matter please contact us on [email protected] or [email protected]
Lastly… Tight Lines to all our Members, Stay Safe & Thanks for reading this update.
