Middlesbrough Angling Club – February Roundup. Club news, points of interest & reminders to members discussed at our February meeting (held Mon 27th Feb 2023):
- A work party will be taking place at Hutton Rudby Ponds on Sunday 12th March from 9AM (weather permitting)! – As the work taking place will be centred around tidying up and maintaining the integrity of the perimeter fence the ponds will remain open to members who wish to fish. Members who have an interest in taking part in club work parties are welcome to contact Dale (Fisheries Officer) @ Anglers Choice (01642) 899 288.
- Major remedial work on Hutton Rudby Ponds will take place on the week commencing Monday 22nd May 2023 and is expected to be completed on Friday 26th May – during this time the venue will be closed to members and the match scheduled for Monday 22nd May will not take place. Any amendments to dates/times of this work will be posted on the club website/Facebook.
- It was agreed that Junior coaching sessions will take place at Hutton Rudby Ponds after remedial works are completed – It is hoped these coaching sessions will culminate in a series of junior competitions.
- Following discussions with members, the club is looking into alternatives to the current key locks at both Hutton Rudby Ponds and Marske Reservoir.
- 2023 Membership subscriptions must be paid no later than March 31st at Anglers Choice, Cleveland Angling, Keith Sports or by post. After this time reapplication for membership will be necessary – The Membership Secretary has informed the Committee there is a healthy waiting list and reapplication will not guarantee membership for this year. Members are reminded they must not fish club waters until their membership has been renewed. *Note 01/03/23 – The club is not currently taking any further applications for membership due to the number on waiting list.
- It was agreed that the time of the clubs open Committee meetings would be brought forward to 7PM for the convenience of those who wish to attend. The first open meeting of the year takes place on Monday 27th March at St. Francis Parish Hall & Social Club, 200 Acklam Road, Middlesbrough, TS3 4PS. All club members are welcome to attend.
- Following reports from Marske Reservoir members are reminded that the lighting of fires is not allowed on any of the clubs waters as per rule 7 in the club rules. Any member found failing to observe these rules faces expulsion from the club. Further to this, members are asked that when ‘answering the call of nature’ they do so with respect for their surroundings and fellow members.
- This month sees the start of the close season for coarse fishing that runs from 15th March to 15th June inclusive – While our stillwater venues remain open throughout the year, the clubs stretches of river are closed for coarse fishing during this time.
